What is Recycled LDPE Granule?

By GranEx Team · 5 min read

Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is one of the most widely used plastics in the world. From packaging films and agricultural covers to pipes and cable insulation — LDPE is everywhere. But what happens to it after its first use?

That's where recycled LDPE granules come in.

From Waste to Raw Material

Recycled LDPE granules are produced by collecting post-consumer or post-industrial LDPE scrap, cleaning and sorting it, and running it through a granulation process. The result is small, uniform pellets that can be used as a direct substitute for virgin LDPE in many manufacturing applications.

The quality of the output depends heavily on the quality of the input. At GranEx, we source our feedstock from European-origin LDPE scrap, sorted by purity grades: 60/40, 80/20, and 90/10.

Two Main Types We Produce

Black LDPE Granule is produced from mixed LDPE scrap with carbon black content. It is widely used in the core layer of Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP), where color consistency and flow properties matter more than transparency.

Honeycomb LDPE is a lighter-colored granule produced from cleaner, sorted film and bag scrap. It is preferred in packaging film, agricultural film, and pipe manufacturing.

Why Use Recycled LDPE?

The performance gap between virgin and recycled LDPE has narrowed significantly. Recycled LDPE granules offer a cost-effective and sustainable alternative without compromising production quality.

Manufacturers across the Gulf Region, North Africa, and Europe are under growing pressure to incorporate recycled content. Recycled LDPE granules are a practical way to meet that demand.
